The time between the Country Radio Seminar introducing a ton of new music and the blitz of the summertime giving us plenty of feel-good vibes, really sees country music embracing the wedding song and delivering first dance favorites.

Brett Young has always had a knack for delivering these types of songs, and he now adds a piece of his own love story to the mix with his latest release, “Dance With You.”

The song, co-written by Young with Jordan Minton and Jimmy Robbins, moves out the gate with a soft, insatiable sway within its groove that makes you grab your better half and lead them to the dance floor as Brett slides his heartfelt vocal into the lyrics to whisk you away to the blissfulness of being head over heels in love while appreciating the little everything’s that make you one with each other.

Reassuringly professing who he’ll be for her through each of the verses, he sings of being her shoulder to lean on, her sunshine on rainy days, her strength when she’s not feeling strong, etc. Before utilizing the chorus to paint the picture of them holding each other close and getting lost within’ each other during a slow dance to a perfectly selected song, landing at a hook that presumably gets her placing her head on his shoulder.

“Pick out a song I can hold you to

Go on, and let down your hair baby kick off your shoes

They say life’s a dance and if that’s the truth

I only wanna dance with you”

A very interesting lyrical decision happens at the start of the second chorus when he expertly shifts away from telling her to pick out a song that they can dance to, to saying instead, “we can pick out a song,” subtly indicating how much closer they’re growing even just during this slow dance moment of embrace.

Though in  many ways songs like this are prevalent to country music, what really elevates this one to amazing heights as when he poignantly strikes the bridge with the simple, but all too often overlooked reasons why the little things are so important when he sings:

“We only get so many moments

It will all be gone before we know it”

Brett Young has become one of country music elite male acts by knowing his vocal, the perfect ways to use the uniqueness of it, and an uncanny ability to craft songs that reach through the speaker and hit their intended heartstring mark every time out.

He absolutely does it again with “Dance With You,” a song that had already become a fan favorite when he road tested it during his last tour, making this perfectly timed release the next that will not only find Young on several wedding playlists as the season is upon us, but should land him heavy rotation at country radio.
