As their ‘No Bad Vibes Tour’ continues to earn tremendous praise as their hot rising single “Memory Lane” impactfully stays strong on the charts, reigning ACM Group of the Year and CMA Vocal Group of the Year, Old Dominion, releases the highly anticipated “I Should Have Married You.”

The song, written by all five members of the group with Shane McAnally, was initially teased on socials back in October and has kept their fans talking about it ever since, making this fan favorite a sure fire bet to strike hitmaking gold with their exuberant following while it becomes an exciting addition to their set list during upcoming tour stops.

Old Dominion always has a way of taking ultra-relatable situations and crafting them around a catchy, feel-good melody that keeps the listener invested by holding their heartstrings through an incredible vocal delivery, which the group does again on this look back on the one that got away.

Painting vivid pictures through his memories of the very time that he should have popped the question but didn’t, Matt Ramsey instantly sets the scene as he sings about a beachside vacation with her family that first sees the two of them spending alone time together on the boardwalk, drinking margaritas and watching the stars over the ocean as the waves crashed, before a perfect midnight moment between just him and her dad saw him missing his opportunity to ask for her hand.

The second verse focus is him looking in the mirror to face his insecure reasons why he never asked her,  telling then through a today maturity that he can’t blame her for not waiting around for him, perfectly piggybacking off the chorus that sees him fully blaming himself for being young and stupid while confessing that he should have seen it all the way through when he still had the chance.

By keeping in the feel of the consistently beachy vibe that we’ve grown accustomed to from them, Old Dominion expertly takes what could have been a somber, mournful melody and masterfully injects it with a feel of “yeah, I know messed up and can’t get it back… but I’m doing alright,” to give the idea that this is clearly just a passing nostalgic moment of him looking back through an old photo album and not a down feeling of regret over the past where he always resides.

The award-winning group certainly has a knack for what they do, and they do it very well. From song to song, they really don’t stray too far away sonically from their comfort zone, but they consistently impress by challenging themselves lyrically and continually enhancing their extremely strong abilities to craft something in such a way that it always resonates with the listener.
