Jameson Rodgers has certainly become known for his good timing, blue-collar anthem “Cold Beer Calling My Name,” but he’s also delivered modern country heart tuggers such as “Missing You,” showcasing his vast depth and incredible know how of utilizing his voice to deliver a pure emotional punch.

Recently, Rodgers has been sharing pieces of his newest material by unveiling mid-tempo layers to give us a good glimpse of the near future through ultra-catchy, super memorable songs such as “Heartbreak Highway,” “Goin’ Crazy,” and “Holding Me Back."

He now slides into a softer pace on his newest release, “Built For Heartbreak.”

Floating his very distinguishable voice atop the waltz infused melody with raw honesty embedded into each word, Jameson delivers amazing lyrics that see him comparing himself and his heart to the rip through destruction of a hurricane as he slides further into rock bottom while skillfully praising the one standing by his side.

“You hold my through the hurricane

You brace my 2 x4’s

You look out for the rainbow

And I pray for another storm”

Embracing self-made walls of impeding heartbreak through an obvious insecurity factor that has him questioning whether its real or not, he seemingly pushes her away through the chorus by self-destructively challenging her to destroy him because his heart can take it:

“So baby get that hammer

Raise it up and bring it down

I’m already a disaster

I’m too far for saving now

Rip me to the studs, mess me up

Ain’t a swing of pain that I can’t take

Tear me to the dirt, do it good make it hurt

I was built for heartbreak”

Though this isn’t the fun-loving, party going side of Jameson Rodgers, like his darker turn on “One Day,” “Built For Heartbreak” sees him gut punching a realistic journey of breaking your own heart before someone else can; a notion that’s all too relatable for so many who are searching for love but then allowing themselves to push it away when its standing right in front of them.
