Country music artist Brett Kissel is household name in his native Canada and continues to make waves in the United States as well.  Having released his fifth album, ‘What Is Life?’, in 2021, he set a record for the most added song on Canadian country radio in a single week with “Make a Life, Not a Living”.

Kissel has achieved a lot in his years as a country singer, and the roots of that success has always centered around the theme of writing songs about real life.  His latest release, “Watch It”, continues that trend, with slowed, piano-infused production and sentimental lyrics that will find its way into the hearts and minds of its listeners.

Written by Blake Bollinger and Matthew Joseph Rodgers, “Watch It” reminisces about the past while offering some advice to not take things for granted and enjoy the moments as they happen in real time, because nothing lasts forever.  Sure, this song-plot has been used before, and yes, this is a lesson that we all know, but it’s also something we constantly naturally forget during the course of our busy day-to-day lives.

They say take life one day at a time and I’m trying’

But it’s flyin’

The world spins ‘round and there’s no way to bottle the lightnin’

Or rewind it

You’re growing up so fast and I wish so bad that I could stop it

But baby I’m so glad I’m the one who gets the chance,

To Watch It

The tune comes full circle, turning its focus to Brett as a parent watching his children grow up, realizing how fast time passes and how it is important to take every day one step at a time and watch every moment with friends and family.

Kissel has two Gold-certified albums, three Platinum singles and eight Gold singles to his name, along with 15 top-10 radio hits to date.  In addition to his many other accomplishments on the Canadian country music circuit, he earned the Fans’ Choice Award following his record-setting 112 date tour.  He currently has a handful of dates in September in Calgary and Edmonton as well as one date in November in Toronto.
