AUSTIN SNELL - So Can I - River House/Warner Music Nashville

Austin Snell’s country music career is almost one of an instant success story.  Barely a year after moving to Music City, the Dudley, GA native released his acclaimed 2022 EP ‘Muddy Water Rockstar’, which spawned the singles “Excuse the Mess” and “Wasting All These Tears” and put him on the radar of fast-rising acts to watch.

Flash forward to 2024, and the talented singer-songwriter is set to release his debut full length album, accompanied by a brand-new tune which serves as a final preview to the upcoming record.  “So Can I” is available now, both digitally and on all streaming platforms, via River House Artists / Warner Music Nashville.

A waning melody headlined by a somber piano intro sets the mood of the song immediately, with Snell’s trademark crooning vocal delivery taking center stage and he confesses his vulnerable desire for someone to stay by his side and not give up on him.  His range and control collectively add to the emotional impact of the ballad, as he poetically professes his love and hope for a brighter tomorrow even during a darker today.

“Yeah, I know right now it’s raining

And them cold gray skies ain’t breaking

If that south-headed wind can turn back towards the north

And that sun going down can come up in the morning

And wake you up and open your eyes

So can I”

Written by Snell along with Lukas Scott and JoyBeth Taylor, “So Can I” is one of thirteen tracks on ‘Still Bleeding’, his debut record due out on June 28th.  In fact, Austin wrote or co-wrote all but one of the songs on the album, serving as a testament to his ownership of this project and the personal connection he found when writing.

“I’ve never been prouder of a piece of work in my life.  This album gets fun, it gets deep, it gets happy, and it gets sad, a lot like life itself”, Snell said.  “I truly found my purpose in writing this album and telling stories about the good, the bad, and the ugly”.

The dream and reality of becoming a country music star typically vary drastically from one another.  While the ideal scenario is to move to Nashville, be discovered immediately and release music that will forever change your career and your life, that’s imply not the way it happens.  The truth is, the music industry is a grind, taking that unique combination of unprecedented talent, work ethic and grit, and belief in yourself as well as in those around you.

For Austin Snell, in a little over a year as a Music City resident, the self-proclaimed “grunge country” singer-songwriter took the genre by storm, infusing his own unique style to the masses to the admiration and respect from fans, critics, and fellow artist alike.  Now, with the impending release of his debut album in a month, his is set to take his career to the next level.
