With an incredibly strong resume that’s been built up through achievement upon achievement since she first broke onto the Canadian country music scene in 2012 with “Catch Me If You Can,” pop country songstress Jess Moskaluke continues her rise to the top echelon with absolutely no signs of slowing down in 2023.

She delivered the rowdy, up-tempo anthem “Not What You Think” earlier this year, and she now returns with her brand new single, “Heartbreaker.”

Capturing a feeling we’ve all experienced over a moody pump in the instrumentation, Moskaluke perfectly encompasses the bevy of rollercoaster emotions that arrive when you’re trying to give every bit of yourself to someone you’re falling for, but you hit a roadblock when they won’t allow you in past self-made walls that they’ve created on past heartbreaks, leaving you with an emptiness inside as they unfairly compare you to the one who broke them.

I gotta ask why are you holding back?” she snaps in the opening verse as she then boldly reiterates that while his ex- girlfriend did do him dirty, they both know that she’s not her!

The second verse, and the bridge, both then continue to accelerate this notion as she frustratingly, though also reassuringly, spells out exactly who she is and the several ways that he can trust that she wants to be there for him:

“She broke you into pieces, but I could fix that”

“I’ll give you all of me and never take it back”

“If you’re jumping then I’m jumping”

But the strongest punch arrives in the chorus when the melody lends itself to an insatiable pop country groove the elevates her vocal as she runs through a list of all the things that she “ain’t,” such as a game player, a flavor of the week, and a heartbreaker, while then adding extreme depth to the lyric when she also includes what she will be for him, “I’ll be your soul shaker.”

With this batch of new songs arriving in the first half of the year on the heels of the very-well received “Knock Off,” Jess Moskaluke is opening her exciting next chapter with a redefinition of her signature characteristics; moving them in just the slightest ways to masterfully give her a fresh feel with each new song release.

By having this veteran ability to craft something new within her core feel - something she’s done again with “Heartbreaker” – she expertly satisfies her exuberant fanbase while also attracting newcomers with something solid to grab hold of as they discover more of her catalog.
