MACKENZIE CARPENTER - Boots On - The Valory Music Co.

With each song she releases in 2024, country starlet Mackenzie Carpenter is expertly highlighting her diversity as a songwriter, artist, and vocalist, carefully walking her signature flares against an edgy, alternative rock essence on “Sound Of A Heartbreak” and into the pure vulnerability of her first true love song, “Only Girl.”

She now returns with the very flirtatious, “Boots On.”

Accented with an early 1960’s vibe that fuses rock-n-roll sensibilities with a handclapped rhythm like those normally reserved for a Frankie and Annette film, the song co-written by Carpenter, Rhett Akins, Brandon Hood, and Ben Williams provides a perfect honeymoon phased snapshot of young love.

“I wrote ‘Boots On’ in my honeymoon era, so that season was a big inspiration for this one,” shares Carpenter. “It’s such a fun, flirty tune that my hubby sure does love and I hope y’all do too!”

I don’t mean to call you right in the middle of the day, but it’s kind of important and it just can’t wait,” she sings on the opening line, setting in motion the continual playfulness that then ensues between her and her better half over the telephone line, prodding for him to ditch out on the rest of the day of work and come on home to her.

Ignited by his goodbye morning kiss that left her reeling for more, so much more, she turns up her flirting as the song progresses from verse to verse, teasing that she has the sugar at home that he needs before injecting his mindset with steamy visions of her only wearing what God gave her and a pair of new sky blue Lucchese’s.

pumping into the chorus as her temptations begin to boil over, having not only worked him up but also clearly working herself into a tizzy, she endearingly pleads:

“Sitting here missing you something strong

You’re the only one got what I want

Come on baby can’t you take the day off

Cause I ain’t got nothing but my boots on

Thinking about you kiss kissing on me

Making me hotter than the Georgia heat

Put the pedal to the metal, baby come on home

Cause I ain’t got nothing but my boots on”

Wrapped around an irresistible melody and an overall vibe that’s 100% unique in comparison to anything else happening in country music right now, Mackenzie Carpenter delivers a blast of throwback fun to keep your toes tapping as you listen over and over again while her intriguing next chapter swings wide open on the back of the ultra-catchy “Boots On.”
