BUCKY COVINGTON - Wheels - Barefootin

Rockingham, NC native Bucky Covington has released a brand-new single, remembering life growing up with family and friends while enjoying ride we all experience from childhood to adolescence to becoming an adult.  “Wheels” is available now digitally and on all streaming platforms.

“Wheels was written about freedom, family and friends from your first bike to your favorite truck!”, Covington shared.

A steady beat and clean guitar intro kick off the track, giving way to Covington’s lyrical walkthrough of the first verse.  And although he made name for himself over the years as a gifted singer, he instead opts for a less harmonized, almost talking approach reminiscent of a combination of early Sam Hunt and Jake Owen.

The chorus opens up to a listener-friendly, pop country melody alongside simple, sing-along lyrics that will invite toe-tapping and head-bobbing throughout.

From start to finish, “Wheels” tells a story of his childhood, and about what he learned, not just about bikes and cars, but also about life.  It’s relatable material unquestionably, and one that will take the listener down memory lane.

“Wheels

I won’t ever forget

About the hours we spent with that craftsman wrench

We tweaked that engine till she ran just right

And man, we were fast on Saturday night”

Covington quickly became a household name in the country music world after his appearance on the fifth season of American Idol.  After placing eighth on the show, he was signed to Lyric Street Records and released his self-titled debut album in April 2007.  The record hit No. 1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart and included three hit singles:  “ A Different World”, “It’s Good To Be Us”, and “I’ll Walk”.  Well-received tunes “I Want My Life Back”, “Gotta Be Someboy”, and “A Father’s Love” followed later, adding to a solid musical catalogue for the singer-songwriter.

“Wheels” serves as Bucky’s first new music since 2020’s “Drivin’ In The Dark”.  Could it be the first a string of new tunes leading up to a new album in 2024?  We shall see.
