With her last single, “Somebody’s Nobody,” Sydney Hansen gave us an up-tempo, toe-tapper that absolutely caught our attention with its confidently sassy nature that fused slight elements of rock influence into her otherwise anthem like country styling.

She now releases her new single “Getting Somewhere Slow,” and switches gears as she slows things down to intriguingly unveil a completely other side of who she is as artist as the softer pace allows the depth of the lyrics to totally rely on her vocal prowess to carry the feelings and emotions of the song.

Times hardly started ticking, and you feel it’s running out,” Hansen sings in the opening verse as she quickly sets in motion the overall message of the entire song as she then backs into the idea of slowing down and being patient with where you’re at and the current pace of your climb to the next level.

Speaking directly to the young hopeful - presumably the singer/songwriter - that doesn’t see their dreams coming to pass in a quick enough fashion for their liking, Hansen encourages them to “give yourself a break” and later in the bridge reiterates to them “that it never happens overnight,” but she also shows them that she completely understands where they’re at and the emotions their experiencing as she sings through the chorus:

Your dreams are big, your mind is turning

Candles bright, with both ends burning

Save a little fire for down the road

You’ve got a lot to give but if there’s no takers

They’ll catch up sooner or later

You’re not standing still

Just getting somewhere slow.”

What’s so great about a song like this, is that it sees someone reaching a high point on their path and then pausing from their up ahead vantage point to reach back and grab hold of someone’s hand behind them who is struggling where they’re at to help them move up so they can then walk stronger together.

These advice types of songs that sing from the older generation to generation next were so prevalent in country music a decade ago, and to see them making a solid comeback is so refreshing as they’re still so necessary today.

Sydney Hansen delivers this one in such a way that it feels like an older sister reaching out to embrace her younger one while letting her know it’s all going to be okay and to just enjoy the ride. But with it, she also continues to forge her path as one of country music’s young talents that you need to be keeping an eye on as the buzz is beginning to swirl around her, making it only a matter of time before she pushes through that barrier to become one of country music’s next rising stars and on everyone’s artist to watch list.
