Sidewalk Records recording artist Ruthie Collins’ heartbreak power ballad “Hypocrite” is a song that to which everyone can relate.  It’s a breakup song, telling the tale of a familiar and unfortunately common feeling of grief and heart wrench while trying to keep it all inside and seem “fine” on the outside.

Collins’ voice is incredibly powerful on this track, emphasizing the mood and vibe of the subject matter while belting out the notes with as much passion as the heartbreak behind the lyrics.

“But I’m your little hypocrite

‘Cause I’m still in the thick of it

Cross my heart that I’m so over it

But I’m still in love with you”

“Hypocrite” tip-toes the line between genres, which is where Collins and her style belong.  The southern song of the pedal steel intertwined with the pop-rock beat and a anthemic-like chorus put this tune in a category all its own.

As one could deduce by the emotionally delivery on the track, Ruthie drew from her personal experience on “Hypocrite”:

“A relationship I really didn’t want to end was clearly slipping away from me, and even though I was trying to pretend I was ok with it all, I was a complete wreck on the inside”, Collins explained.  “I hope ‘Hypocrite’ lets people know that even though we’re all trying our best to keep it together, there’s so much freedom in owning your emotions…”

“Hypocrite” is the follow up to Collins’ 2020 acclaimed album ‘Cold Comfort’.  Riding the momentum of a successful debut album along with a strong single in late 2021, this year promises to be the busiest and best for Ruthie yet.
