CHASE RICE
"If I Were Rock & Roll"
Dack Janiels / Broken Bow
With the release of his new single “If I Were Rock & Roll”, Chase Rice has entered the next phase of his music career. The multi-platinum entertainer has achieved mainstream success in numerous avenues of the industry, but now, for the first time, he is going against the grain and releasing music that is 100% genuine to himself as a man and as a songwriter.
Rice penned “If I Were Rock & Roll” solely, and the vulnerability and authenticity exuberated on this track is incredibly impressive, sincere, and ground-breaking.
Many people think of Chase Rice solely as an entertainer. It’s about time we think of him as an accomplished singer-songwriter. Having penned the Diamond-certified hit “Cruise”, he has now steered his efforts towards self-reflection and the result is extraordinary.
This song is about professing his desires and opening up about who he is and who he wants to be, while, of course, dedicating the track to the girl who he shown his weaknesses and to whom he’d give himself entirely.
“If I were rock ‘n’ roll
I’d be a middle finger in your face
If I were a lost soul
I’d be in church more than just Sundays
And if for some reason I was Jesus
I’d have a lot of forgiving to do
And I weren’t a fool
Girl I’d still be with you”
Rice spent nearly a year away from the stage during the pandemic, and he is ready to hit the road extensively for headlining gigs this fall before jumping on the Kane Brown tour in early 2022.
