COREY KENT - This Heart - RCA Records Nashville

As his UK tour with Ashley McBryde draws to a close and he gears up for his US run with Parker McCollum beginning later this month, Corey Kent has released his first new tune of the year.  “This Heart” is available now on all streaming platforms via RCA Records Nashville.

With momentum behind his music and artistry at an all-time high, the Oklahoma native / Texas based singer/songwriter is garnering a lot of attention with any new release, but his latest tune has set anticipation to new heights.

“Some songs take on a life of their own.  They demand to be put out into the world,” Corey said.  “I’ve been lucky enough to experience that a time or two.  But never like this…our most highly anticipated release ever and it’s not even close.  Now this song is yours.  Hope it makes you feel something.”

Written by Thomas Archer, Blake Bollinger, Jacob Hackworth and Michael Tyler, “This Heart” is poised to perhaps be the best and most successful release of Kent’s career to this point.  The musical arrangement is artistically flawless, supporting the song’s message and lyrical delivery to a point of immaculately vulnerable beauty.

The honesty, sincerity, and vulnerability pronounced throughout this track are what will resonate long after the first listen.  Corey’s vocals are perfectly on point, accurately reflecting the emotional heartbreak that accompanies the end of a meaningful relationship.

This is an emotionally-heavy track, incorporating redolent lyrics and cleverly-crafted imagery to offer a unique reflection on an aching heart’s impact on one’s thoughts and feelings.

“It’s like it don’t understand

We’re as done as we’ve ever been

Yeah, I wish I never felt it, nothin’, I can tell it

It’s draggin’ me through hell and back again”

Serving as his first release in 2024, “This Heart” follows “Southeast Oklahoma Pines”, an autobiographical track that pays homage to Corey’s hometown of Broken Bow, Oklahoma.  Having hit a major milestone, he officially reached gold status with his single “Something’s Gonna Kill Me”, tallying over 80 million streams worldwide while continuing to climb the country radio chart.

Adding to an impressive musical catalogue that also includes the smash single “Wild As Her” as well as the ode to his wife, “You Know”, Kent is giving fans plenty to be excited about as they catch him on the road as part of McCollum’s Burn It Down Tour throughout the year.
