UNCLE KRACKER - Cruising Altitude - Sturegon General Records

In May, Uncle Kracker released his first new music since the pandemic in 2020, and has since been keeping busy in the studio and on the road throughout 2023.  Now, less than six months later, the multi-genre hitmaker is back with a brand-new tune, one that encompasses everything we’ve come to know and love from him over the years.

Ever since the release of his major label debut, ‘Double Wide’, in 2000, Uncle Kracker has found his niche within the music world, whether in pop, country or anywhere else.  The relatability of his lyrics and the undeniable infectious melodies of his music resonate with fans of all ages, backgrounds, and tastes.  That same trend continues, now two decades later, with “Cruising Altitude”, an ear-pleasing track that toe-taps its way into the ears and minds of its listeners immediately.

“I’m stoked to release this feel-good song of the fall”, he shared.  “I sat down with the Warren Brothers and JT Harding one morning to write.  The conversation turned into where we were from and the Warren Brothers’ father, who was a pilot – one thing led to another…”

This is a pop-country sing-along anthem to its core, with its simple yet clever lyrics delivered by his trademark raspy vocals.  The groove is irresistibly catchy, with its predictable yet welcomed beats and runs that familiarly delight the listener from start to finish.  This is another classic Uncle Kracker-esque release, showcasing every element that has made him a household name across genres from the past two decades.

“Working 40 hours down here on the ground

Makes me wanna pick you up and forget about

All the paycheck problems under the clouds

There’s a beautiful view up there looking down”

His latest release follows “Reason To Drink” and “Sweet 16” as his first new music in several years.  Clearly still at the top of his game as a singer as well as a songwriter, the hit-maker is enjoying a career renaissance of sorts.  He recently concluded his run as direct support on the ZZ Top / Lynyrd Skynyrd “Sharped Dress Simple Man” tour and will stay on the road playing headlining gigs throughout the rest of the year.  With an ever-growing musical catalogue that continues to transcend beyond the genre boundaries, Uncle Kracker seems to have no limits which direction to take his career.  And wherever that is, we are along for the ride, one that has hit a “Cruising Altitude”!
