GABBY BARRETT - "Cowboy Back" - Warner Music Nashville

With the look, sound, and swagger of a superstar, Gabby Barrett has taken the country music world by storm ever since she broke onto the scene following her incredible run on ‘American Idol’ back in 2018.  Since then, the Pittsburgh, PA native has blossomed into one of the brightest young stars in the genre, releasing smash hit singles including “I Hope”, “The Good Ones”, and “Pick Me Up”.

Much to the delight of the millions of country music fans pining for a new album from the young starlet, Barrett is releasing the second single from her forthcoming sophomore project.  “Cowboy Back” is now available digitally and on all streaming platforms via Warner Music Nashville.

Co-written by Gabby along with Jon Nite and Jesse Frasure, this is an ode to the men out there who embody traditional values and work hard to provide and to protect those they love.  An anthem of appreciation and admiration, “Cowboy Back” is a woman’s profession of the love and affection she has for the man in her life, whom she loves for his sense of honor, honest, and respect.  For Barrett, this tune comes straight from her mind and her heart, drawing muse from her own life experience.

“I was inspired by my wonderful husband, a Texan, when I was writing this one,” Gabby shared.  “’Cowboy Back’ is all about appreciating the hardworking guys out there with strong values – those who are authentically country”.

The mid-tempo melody invites the listener in immediately, and the lyrics are enticingly sensual and cleverly crafted to paint a picture from Gabby’s voice to our ears.  This is an undeniably and unapologetically modern country song, but several traditional elements are infused, including a crafty fiddle run that provides the perfect background for Barrett’s trademark blend of subdued and soaring vocal delivery.

Having co-produced the track with industry heavyweight Ross Copperman, Gabby continues to make strides in taking her musicianship to another level.  From her vocal prowess to her intuitive songwriting and now her evolving endeavor as a co-producer, she continues to develop herself into an artist who has her hands on all aspects of her music from start to finish.

“Cowboy Back” follows “Glory Days”, the lead single from her upcoming sophomore album which is currently in the Top 30 and climbing at country radio.  Barrett spent most of the spring and summer making special appearances at some of the biggest country music festivals across the country as well as playing select dates on Kane Brown’s nationwide tour, while also continuing to hone her craft as a songwriter and work on new music.
