BRIAN KELLEY - Dirt Cheap - Big Machine Records

As the post Florida-Georgia Line era continues to progress in 2023, both members, Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley, have proven that they have the mainstay talent, ability, and work ethic to remain at the forefront of the country music landscape for years to come.

For Kelley, he has engaged in artist development and music publishing over the years via his Tree Vibez Music endeavor with Hubbard, as well as having launched an independent label, Round Here Records, also with Hubbard.

But at the roots of all of his accomplishments and accolades in the music industry, it all ultimately resorts back to his singing and songwriting, and his love for making music.  The Ormond Beach, FL native’s latest tune, “Dirt Cheap,” is available now via Big Machine Records.

“This song matches and meets me where I’m at in life currently,” Kelley shared.  “I am so thankful this song landed in my world, and I hope it resonates with those who hear it just like it did with me.”

Written by Seth Ennis, Wyatt McCubbin, and Andy Sheridan, “Dirt Cheap” centers around a not un-common premise of wanting life to slow down and escaping the busy hectic life in the city for the quiet, peaceful atmosphere of the country.

This has been a repetitive general theme used over the years for a very good reason – it continues to resonate with people.  Slowing down the busy world in which we live is something everyone longs for to a degree, but very few of us are able to achieve.  Thus, we turn to music to express our thoughts and emotions for us, and the lyrical analogies behind the “Dirt Cheap” frame of mind do just that, from start to finish.

“Let’s find a spot

Where everybody knows our names

Where you leave them doors unlocked

Fall asleep to some tin roof rain

Where kids put cards in a ten-speed huffy

And million-dollar views don’t cost no money

Sounds like a country song

Baby, what are we waitin’ on?”

Kelley’s smooth and range-full vocals soar on the track, alongside up-tempo acoustic driven melodies while adding intricate amounts of steel to keep this song right where it belongs in the country music realm.  The beach-influenced blend of traditional and modern elements are a trademark of Brian’s solo material to date, and this song falls right in line with what we are beginning to expect from his sound.

“Dirt Cheap” serves as a follow-up to his single, “See You Next Summer,” which has taken on a life of its own at country radio, nearing the Top 30.  To date, the song is quickly approaching 9 million global streams and continues to build momentum as the summer is drawing to a close.

Kelley has been working in the studio on what will be his full-length debut album with Big Machine Records.  He also has been keeping busy on the road, playing gigs across the country throughout the summer, with dates scheduled from coast to coast from now through the end of the year.
