Adam Hood has been a well-respected artist in the music industry, both as a singer and a songwriter.  But the release of his sixth studio album, ‘Bad Days Better’, in late 2022, put him on another level of renowned prestige.

The Opelika, Alabama native continues to impress with his unique style of Americana and roots rock-influenced brand of country with the release of his latest single, “Varnado”.  The track is available for download and streaming and available on all music platforms now.

Hood’s new tune serves as a tribute to a place in the town of Varnado called Birdie’s Roadhouse.  Having co-written the song with Justin Johnson, the two reminisced on the memorable experiences they had at the venue just south of the Mississippi / Louisiana line at the beginning of their respective careers.

This song is a Hood classic through to its core, with its rootsy, crooning approach to a storytelling anthem alongside an irresistibly catchy beat and guitar picking.  Adam’s trademark raspy yet strong lyrics effortlessly tell the tune’s story through his down-to-earth, every life lyrical approach.

“Varnado” is a song about failing to check in at home when you’re out on the road in an area off the grid and without any phone reception or way to communicate.  In anticipation of the “trouble” he was expecting to get in for failing to call home, he and Justin sat down and put the pen to paper about “staying in the doghouse”, as he references.

The result is an energetic, light-hearted account of the effects of life on the road, something that will resonate and connect with many listeners through its toe-tapping melody.

As has been the case throughout his career, Adam successfully articulates his thoughts, feelings and emotions and is able to convey those through not only the lyrics, but also the musical accompaniment.

“The darkest hour is always before the dawn

And it sure is dark out here driving all alone

Well I love you baby and I will for all my life

But it’s sad to say that I can’t come home tonight”

Hood made his Grand Ole Opry debut in October 2022 and returned to the iconic stage in late February.  He has been playing headlining gigs amid special guest appearances and festival dates through the spring and into the summer.  The rest of the year will find Adam playing dates in the south followed a slew of performances in Alabama and Texas into November.
