SPENCER CRANDALL
FT. COOPER ALAN
"Didn't Do"
Independent Release
With a tremendous following spawned by his viral sensation “Made,” Spencer Crandall blasted onto the country music scene and has taken it by storm ever since, earning a whopping 360M+ culminative career streams. However, rather than relying on only social media success, the perfect consistency of high-profile gigs, a very well-received headlining tour, and solid song release after solid song release have been the binding ingredients to sustaining his incredible career trajectory.
Looking back from a today perspective on his uber popular Western album, Crandall has ambitiously been reimagining the biggest fan favorites from the 2022 release throughout the first half of this year, including differing versions of “Made,” “Girls Like You,” and “To Be Continued…”
He now enlists Cooper Alan to join him on his next reimaged take, “Didn’t Do,” released in coordination with his Western Reloaded EP.
Though crisply remastered, this version of the song mirrors the original in many ways, but the addition of Alan to it adds a flare to the dynamic that’s absolutely felt when they go back and forth, swapping line to line through the second chorus, showcasing not only the uniqueness of each of their voices, but also their abilities to blend them together flawlessly.
Building vocal layers through each the verses as the music progressively beats along behind them, the lyric challenges us to live bigger, outside our comfort zones while embracing every moment around an attitude that says to not be afraid to jump first and then learn how to fly; ending each verse with the line, “the biggest risk that I take is playing it safe” before slapping the chorus and raising an anthem like punch:
“I wanna give my heart away like it ain't gonna break
Let someone in even if it ends
Rather end up pennyless, chasing my bucket list
'Cause all the times, never time well spent
I'll take the pain and headache, hangover
Over missing out on late nights
'Cause the nights I remember, end with a sunrise
Took me wondering what if to know it's true
Rather regret what I did than what I didn't do.”
The ultra-modern drive within the melody satisfies the current Top 40 flavors with a healthy dose of pop infusion smashing into a country mix, engulfing an addictive tempo that keeps you bopping along as you’re pulled into the lyrics that get you moving past the lines of your comfort zone and into you next chapter by taking the risks you never thought you could take.
