With an uber ambitious planned release schedule of putting out a new song every six weeks with an accompanying visual piece, country infused singer-songwriter Timmy Brown now delivers his brand-new single, “Hardest Half of a Heartbreak.”

Following the infectious, sway embedded melody of “Runaround Town,” and the wedding playlist favorite “The Way You Look Tonight,” Brown softens the pace into a modern kissed, pop laden backbeat to stare directly at the continued breaking of his heart in the aftermath of a split while running through the scenarios over and over again as he stays stuck in place while she’s moving on with ease.

There’s just some things I’m sorry ain’t gonna fix,” Brown admits early in the song, setting in motion the hurt that radiates through the repeated line, “I hate that we ain’t gonna see if we were really meant to be,” as he faces a regret-filled mirror of what could’ve been.

He brings us into his current, broken-hearted situation through the chorus on strong comparing lines such as “I’m moving out and she’s moving on” and “she’s going out, I’m tying one on,” while confessing that he still loves her and doesn’t know how he’ll ever recover from their breakup.

However, it’s the pure honesty of the line, “I shouldn’t complain, only got me to blame,” that really sends this into his downward spiral as he admits that even though he knows it’s too late now, he would absolutely go back and fix where they went wrong if only he could.

Brown has proven over his last few releases his impressive ability of utilizing the tonality in his voice to convey the exact message of each turn of a phrase. He taps into the missing you pain of this song to accent a rawness that makes each word deeply connect, but by skillfully never saying what was the exact cause of the eventual breakup, this elevates to an uber relatable scenario for anyone experiencing one of their own that allows them to place their own situation into the song.

While Timmy Brown has certainly been on the right trajectory since releasing his debut EP Leave This Town in 2016, building a grassroot following one tour stop at a time on the back of strong releases, this very hot pace that he’s keeping in 2023 is continually adding new flavors to the mix as he explores a deeper, more personal side of who he is, aptly reintroducing himself to his longtime fans while acquiring a heaping helping of new ones; Something he’s refreshingly done again with “Hardest Half of a Heartbreak.”
