Warner Music Nashville’s Tucker Beathard is a prime example of an artist with a wide array of influences that stretch well beyond the boundaries of country music.  From the likes of Blink 182 and Kings of Leon to Led Zeppelin and AC/DC, the Nashville, TN native has found his niche in an unrelentingly competitive industry to make himself known as a well-respected songwriter, singer, and performer.

His new song is an expertly-penned account of the toxicity that exists in a relationship that is doomed to fail, beautifully describing, the thoughts, feelings, and emotions experienced through the inevitable turmoil.

“Open Flame” is available now on all streaming platforms, and the song was written about a specific person and relationship from Tucker’s past.

“Our whole relationship kind of started and grew around the thrill of how toxic we were,” he shares.  “So, when we broke up, there really weren’t any hard feelings or burned bridges.  We knew we were bad for each other, but also knew we were each other’s favorite sin we couldn’t resist”.

The undeniably relatable track is poetically written, using metaphoric imagery to etch its way into the hearts and minds of its listeners.  It’s a crooning, acoustically-driven anthem by a gifted songwriter.

“You fall apart, and I fall to pieces

Take my hand, we dance out in the deep end

Can’t stop it baby, once it starts

Get a little too close, go a little too far”

Tucker’s vocals are on point throughout, delivering the song’s story and message through somber undertones and heart-aching melodies.  The musical arrangement and instrumentation perfectly support the lyrical message, which clearly take center stage.

“Too good, too right to run, too wrong to leave it

You’re what I want, but I know I don’t need it

That’s how it is, it’s just who we are

Open flame, paper heart”

Yes, this is a song.  But it’s also a poem; a diary entry.  It’s also an open invitation to the songwriter’s mind and heart during a clearly conflicting time in his life.  The open-hearted and unapologetic nature of this song is masterfully conveyed, and deserves to be commended as one of the more genuine releases by a truly gifted artist.

“Open Flame” serves a s follow up to “Cheap Shots” and “Who I Am With You”.  Of course, Tucker exploded onto the scene with his Top 5 breakout anthem “Rock On”.  In addition to making name for himself as a recording artist, he is also becoming one more-renowned young songwriters in Music City, penning tunes for other fast-rising stars including Bailey Zimmerman and Kameron Marlowe, among others.

With the talent he possesses and the wide array of musical influences that have collectively motivated his stylistic approach to songwriting, Tucker Beathard is keeping the country music community guessing with what is coming.  Every release has been turning heads, and we can’t wait to see where this bright young star’s career will go take him.
