It’s been since July of 2022 that we last heard from Taylor O’Connor when she gave us the 1, 2 punch of “Back” and “See You Around”… but that doesn’t mean she’s been quiet.

Quite the opposite!

She’s been making very intentional moves around town (Nashville) that have purposefully stepped her  forward on her path, playing higher profile songwriter rounds while writing her next chapter of music.

Further crafting the modern, pop country kissed aura that we heard shimmering through “Back,” that next chapter of music now begins with release of her addictively catchy new song, “Time On My Hands.”

Swerving the standard heartbreak and misery that naturally arrives in the the aftermath of a breakup, O’Connor stays intriguingly positive and completely honest with herself through the crystal-clear realization that she’s better off without him, spelling it out in the final lines of the opening verse when she sings, “And if I’m being honest…I’m loving every minute of the moving on.”

This carefree vibe continues to pour out through the chorus, perfectly embodying the freeing feeling of being able to get back to being yourself again as she fully embraces her newfound single life:

“I’ve got time on my hands

To do what I do, not think about you

Got Saturday plans

Or maybe I don’t, I’ll do what I want

And I don’t give a damn

About a gold wedding band

Cause I got time on my hands”

Continuing with a happy go lucky tonality in her voice, the second verse then sees her digging through all the things she’s excited to be without and no longer needing now that he’s gone from her life; everything from not having to always be around his unfunny friends anymore, to not needing his kiss, his money, etc.

While many recent songs that carry this type of theme become strong, girl powered/moving on anthems, Taylor O’Connor delivers a song that’s quite literally for anyone and anybody who has been through  breakup, while boldly giving them permission to move on with their life and embrace its next chapter with unbridled excitement and optimism.
