Country music always has its fair share of new artists come onto the scene and try to figure out the blueprint to follow for finding success, but truthfully, there’s no set-in stone, cut and dry, blueprint for any act to follow. What might work well for one, may not work well for another.

However, if you pay enough attention to the career progression of Liddy Clark then you’ll find an artist and songwriter who has boldly imprinted her foot down on her path, elevated her game through transparent authenticity, and continuously intrigues the media and the listeners with the songs that she’s been releasing throughout 2022 – “Nothing Like New York” and “Made Me” – all which have earned her buzzworthy status.

Her new single “Do I Miss You?” follows alongside the signature traits that she’s been developing from song to song in that it contains several doses of pop infused elements that perfectly meld into a modern country tilt, but the softer pace and lyrical tone of the song also unveils an entirely new layer to who she is as in artist and writer.

Like a therapy session that sees Clark looking in the mirror, she faces the tough emotional struggles that arrive in the aftermath of a hard on the heart break-up and places the listener right in the middle of that very difficult moment between holding on and letting go

However, it’s when she begins to question her own deepest feelings and admits to not having a firm understanding of them that she adds a raw and honest element to the lyric that shines through her incredible vocal delivery; asking things such as “Do I miss you or am I lonely?” and “Do I want you or want you to hold me?” while wondering if she’s made a mistake by walking out the door.

The usage of violin adds necessary flavor to the lyrics to uphold their depth, while the mostly acoustic leaning instrumentation allows plenty of room for Clark’s voice to act as the centerpiece as she pulls together the lyrics with complete vulnerability to give this an endearing connection to the listener; especially to those who are dealing with a broken heart and trying to figure out the next step in how to move forward from it.
