MIRANDA LAMBERT
"Actin' Up"
RCA Nashville
With every new song we hear from Miranda Lambert’s upcoming record, ‘Palomino’, it is evident that the RCA Nashville country music superstar is setting new limits, boundaries, and expectations for herself within her own musical repertoire.
“Actin’ Up” is, as Lambert describes, a female protagonist who is a little bit naughty. The tune, written by Lambert along with Luke Dick and Jon Randall, is a bluesy, twangy, country rock throwback. Does that make any sense? If it doesn’t, it is because this is a brand-new sound that is all her own.
It’s a funky feeling groove that features incredibly unique lyrical exploration that once again helps Lambert set the tone of a new avenue of country music:
“Mirror, mirror on the saddle
Hear my rhinestones rattle
Actin’ up
Billy Bob Texas pickin’ out new axes
Actin’ up
If you really wanna want me
I’ll be riding on my pony
Justin a’singing “Mony Mony”
Cuase I’m mmm I’m actin’ up”
‘Palomino’ is Lambert’s eighth solo studio album, set for release on April 29th. “Actin’ Up” follows the successful singles “Strange” as well as “If I Was a Cowboy”, which is still impacting radio charts.
In a generation and genre in which we consistently see “copycat” releases and imitation singles, Miranda Lambert is paving the way for new musical exploration.
Miranda is set for a busy spring and summer, with dates scheduled nationwide to promote ‘Palomino’ while also treating fans to live performances of her biggest hits from over her illustrious career.
