North Carolina native Scotty McCreery has released his latest single, “Damn Strait” to country radio.  The new track accompanies the release of his 12-song collection, Same Truck, released September 17 via Triple Tigers.

Written by Trent Tomlinson and Jim Collins, “Damn Strait” relies heavily on the steel guitar and McCreery’s traditional roots.  His ability to write and choose songs that coincide with his faithfulness to the traditional sounds of the genre while still remaining relevant in the industry is impressive to say the least.

Fans of older country music, and specifically George Strait, will immediately appreciate the lyrical content, as McCreery cunningly honors the King of Country by associating his songs while mourning the loss of a lover.

“’Nobody In His Right Mind Would’ve Left Her’”

That was her favorite song

She sang along every time it came on

The first time we danced was to ‘Marina Del Rey’

And I feel right there and then

I didn’t want that song to end

‘Baby Blue’ was the color of her eyes

I can still them in my mind

Probably will for the rest of my life”

The release of “Damn Strait” comes as McCreery is still riding the momentum of his chart-climbing hit “You Time”, the lead single off Same Truck.  The new album is produced by the same team of Frank Rogers, Derek Wells, and Aaron Eshuis, who worked on his RIAA Gold certified Seasons Change record.

As for fans wanting to see him on the road, Scotty has dates scheduled across the US through mid- November as well as a few dates confirmed overseas early next spring.
