Eddie Montgomery makes his debut as a solo artist with the release of “Alive and Well”, a remarkably reflective song of his current reality.

It has been nearly four years since the death of Troy Gentry, the other half of the award-winning duo Montgomery Gentry.  Since that time, Eddie has taken some time off to grieve and re-evaluate, while also playing live dates under the Montgomery Gentry name.

But now, with the release of “Alive and Well”, Eddie seems poised to proceed with the next chapter in his music career as a solo artist.

The song is inspired by times of loss in Montgomery’s life, including the aforementioned passing of Gentry as well as the loss of his 19-year-old son in 2015.  “Alive and Well” is a tune of inspiration, motivation, and triumph, and will even bring a tear to the eye of many listeners.

“It’s hard to get back up again

When you lose two songs and your best friend

I won’t lie and I won’t pretend

I wouldn’t be me if it wasn’t for them

When you got no choice, you just push on

I know deep down, that’s what they’d want”

Written by Montgomery along with Ira Dean and Chris Wallin, “Alive and Well” is a song about coping with grief and overcoming hardships, something with which we can all relate.  A self-proclaimed difficult song to write and even harder to perform, the track is an emotional piece from start to finish, but one that will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression on the listener.
