DALTON DOVER - Ain't It Easy - Mercury Records Nashville
Following a couple of releases that showcased his appreciation of the classic country sound and its honky-tonk brand – his own “Bury Me In This Bar” and covers of Alabama’s “Mountain Music” and John Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Roads” - rising country sensation Dalton Dover kicks off the new year by flowing the modern touches of “Here’s The Deal” into his heartfelt offering, “Ain’t It Easy.”
‘Ain’t It Easy’ is a song about how hard it is finding your person, but when you do find them everything that seemed hard all of a sudden seems so easy,” said Dover. “It really is a journey finding the right one, but once you do everything starts to fall into place.”
Written by Dalton Dover, Matthew McVaney, Matt McGinn and Alex Maxwell, the softer guide of the melody through the opening verse allows the soulfulness of Dover’s powerful voice to spotlight as he trails his missteps of love along the foundational footing that led him to the “the right one.”
Initially flipping through the yearbook of his love’s gone south, Dalton recalls the 17-year-old smitten relationship that didn’t work out because they were too young, the two-year, on again/off again in Athens, etc.
However, by looking back on the could have been from today’s blissful perspective, he shifts to the here and now with a smiled focus gazing at the simple fact that he wouldn’t change any of the heartbreaks he experienced, fully embracing them as the necessary momentum toward getting him to where he’s at today - head over heels in love.
“It ain't easy finding the right one
But all of the wrong ones led me to you
Baby, you're everything that I want
So it was worth all I had to get through
It's hard not to hold you, hard not to love you
Hard not to know what I got, girl, believe me
It ain't easy finding the right one
But when you find them, that rest of your life one
Ain't it easy”
Fondly reminiscing on the moment that he and his now better half first crossed paths, the second verse sees an awestricken Dover cherishing the once in a lifetime/when you know you know feeling that she glowed into his life, while also lifting gratitude to the orchestrator who made it all come together in His perfect timing, “And God knows I've been waiting my whole life to find someone like you.”
Dalton Dover encompasses the often difficult to describe emotional grip that finding the right one has on someone, drawing influence from the feelings that change the beat of your heart when they come into your life. With the busy, Spring wedding season looming on the horizon, “Ain’t It Easy” becomes a strong contender to make its mark on those forever playlists!
