When Erin Kinsey released her debut single “Drunk Too,” she instantly caught the attention of the country music industry and catapulted herself to “one to watch” status, which made her follow-up release that much more anticipated.

She now returns with that highly anticipated sophomore release, “Just Drive.”

Where “Drunk Too” showcased her more vulnerable side, “Just Drive” unravels a completely other layer to who Erin Kinsey is as an artist and songwriter as it shifts focus to a budding romance and wanting to savor every simple moment with them.

The song is uber-relatable to anyone who has ever wanted to disconnect from everything else that’s swirling around them and just clear their head and refocus on what matters most – being with each other.

Lyrically, this instantly places you in the car with the couple while they’re on their way to a fancy dinner reservation, but by the end of the opening verse it has already shifted gears when Kinsey sings, “I hate to go and wreck your plans” – perfectly setting up the change in direction that’s about to take place as we roll into the chorus.

“I’d rather spend it…” she confidently sings as she then lays out what’s on her mind: “…Right here, we can be alone, yeah you and me, this white Toyota.” She then uses the remainder of the song to sing about how the simplicity of just holding hands and going on a nowhere destination drive is the exact memory making moment that they need to have.

There is a great build throughout the verse that sits on simple instrumentation and a pop laden backbeat that truly allows Kinsey to utilize her vocal abilities and build to the excitement of the chorus, where the pop and rock chunkiness of the guitars then crash together to add a Paramore-esque feel to it; which makes sense as one of the lines in the chorus namechecks them, “Paramore on the radio.”

If there was any doubt that Erin Kinsey is quickly becoming one of country music’s next rising stars, one look at the amount of support she is seeing on her TIkTok account will give you the answer; the clip she shared of this song has already earned 7.2 Million views. Enough said! Keep your eyes on Erin Kinsey!
