KAMERON MARLOWE - Keepin' The Lights On - Columbia Nashville

Kameron Marlowe released his album, ‘We Were Cowboys,’ in 2022, and has since seen his career transform him from a new aspiring artist to one of the brightest young stars in all of country music.  And all the while, the North Carolina native has remained true to who he is and where he came from.  His latest release pays homage to that way of life he had growing up, offering a nostalgic glance at the sacrifices we make to accomplish our dreams.

“Keepin’ The Lights On” is available now, both digitally and on all streaming platforms courtesy of Columbia Records Nashville.

Written by Marlowe along with Kendell Marvel and Phil O’Donnell, the slow-tempo number originated from a moment from his childhood when he learned that his father had lost his job.

“I went over there one night and we were talking about everything and he said ‘I just don’t know how we’re going to keep the lights on’,” Kameron said.  “It really resonated with me, and that was the inspiration behind the title.  It’s a testament to their continued sacrifices and my dedication to remaining authentic in this crazy business.”

Since the release of his ‘We Were Cowboys’ album, Kameron has been unapologetic in his approach to making music, introducing a modern take on his traditional style.  That trend continues with “Keepin’ The Lights On,’ as the North Carolina native croons his way through the storytelling, thought-provoking lyrics accompanied by a heavy, steady drum beat and slow, somberly swoony acoustic guitar lead.

“Me and my kid brother

Man we thought we had it made

Shoes were on our feet

Food was on our plates

And never understood when daddy said a prayer

Before he said ‘Amen,’ he’d thank the man upstairs

For keepin’ the lights on”

Coasting through the highs and lows of growing up in a blue-collar household, Kameron acknowledges his family’s struggles while paying homage to the work ethic, determination, and internal fortitude of his parents throughout his upbringing.  From start to finish, this track invites the listener into the heart and mind of its singer, which has been a consistent trait of Marlowe’s music from the beginning.

“Keepin’ The Lights On” follows recent releases “Tennessee Don’t Mind,” “Strangers” with Ella Langley, and “Quit You,” all of which offer fresh glimpses into the lives of those in “everyday America,” as told through the perspective lens of a truly gifted singer, songwriter, and musician.

No stranger to the road, Marlowe will tour heavy once again in 2024, hitting venues and events across the country at headlining gigs as well as sharing the stage with some of the biggest names in the genre from the spring straight through the summer.
