TENILLE TOWNES - Thing That Brought Me Here (Truck Song) - Columbia Nashville

“We’re in this together.”  As is described on her official website, Canadian songstress Tenille Townes has been inspired by the thoughts, feelings, and stories in her mind as well as others she’s met throughout her musical journey to craft a catalogue of releases that has her being recognized as one of the more gifted artists in country music.  That trend continues with the metaphoric storytelling “Thing That Brought Me Here (Truck Song)”, which is now available on all streaming platforms via Columbia Records Nashville.

Tenille keeps things refreshingly simple on this track, stripping things down with a solo acoustic lead intro accompanying her strong vocal presence to create a vibe reminiscent of a songwriter’s night in Music City.  She is a truly gifted songwriter, and this song exemplifies her artistry, incorporating metaphoric comparisons between her life and the journey that brought her to where she is now.

“I drove this truck 2,000 miles

From where I was raised

Forty seven hours if you take interstates

It brought me all the way to where I am now

Still spinning wheels, finding my way somehow”

While much of her music is embedded in the pop-country sound that fans have come to expect and love about her releases, Tenille changes the pace a bit with an approach devoted to the simplistic power of words and music when they join together to create a vibe, mood, and feeling that touches listeners’ hearts and minds.  The vulnerability and relatability displayed on this song are what we need from our most talented artists, and once again, Townes has delivered with a tune that encourages us, just as she is inspired by stories she’s heard along her journey.

“I am inspired by people and their stories,” Townes says.  “I am so grateful for music and the way it makes us feel like we are never alone.  I believe we have everything we need inside of us to be a light for the world.  We make each other braver.  We’re in this together.”

“Thing That Brought Me Here” is the second release since her ‘Train Wreck Work Tapes’ album, and follows previous hit songs “Somebody’s Daughter,” “Girl Who Didn’t Care,” and “The Last Time”.

Her major label debut album, ‘The Lemonade Stand,’ was subject to well-deserved critical acclaim upon its release, featuring the standout tracks “White Horse”, “Jersey On The Wall (I’m Just Asking)”, “The Most Beautiful Things”, and “Come As You Are”.  Since its June 2020 release, she has consistently been offering fresh takes on common themes, furthering her artistry and increasing her notoriety as one of the more talented singer-songwriters in the widespread country music spectrum.
