Since bursting onto the Texas music scene with her self-titled, debut album in 2012, Jenni Dale Lord has walked a line that blurs genres allowing her music to never be put in a box, which has played to her advantage in making her unique amongst a crowded scene.

Her latest single, “The Bottle,” continues to blur those lines as she balances between a 1970’s type of stone country ballad with shots of blues intertwined throughout to uphold the pain fueled lyrics.

This begins with a cold opening that allows Jenni Dale Lord’s incredible vocal depth to be the first showcase on the song as she sings, “He loves Jameson, Jim, Johnny….” before the music guides you into the opening verse and instantly transports you back to a dusty, old Texas, barroom.

Lord utilizes her incredible vocal range to pull us through the heartbreaking drinking song as she reveals how much more her better half loves the whiskey bottle than he does her – in other words, he can’t give up his drinking even though he’s losing her because of it.

The lyrics are crafted so well throughout the song with incredible lines that tug on emotions: “it ain’t a lady that’s driving me crazy and getting between us again,” “but in those few moments, whenever he’s sober, the least thing I want is to leave,” Etc…

Couple these wonderful lyrics with a melody that pulls you through the pain that she’s feeling every time that he drinks again, and you get a song that has one foot firmly planted on the rich past of country music and makes you think that you are listening to a lost record from a bygone era.
