1. The last time we chatted with you was right as your debut single “Drunk Too” was releasing, so we’re excited to be back with you now to chat about your follow-up “Just Drive.” Tell us a little bit about the new single?

Yes! My follow up single, “Just Drive” was one I was super excited to release for many reasons… the biggest reason being that down to the details of the lyrics it is my story!

2. What about this song do you feel makes it the perfect follow-up to “Drunk Too?”

I think what made this song the perfect follow up to my debut ballad single, is that it truly shows the full range of music that I write, and I feel represents me as an artist!

3. In what ways do you feel “Just Drive” shows listeners another layer of who you are as an artist and songwriter in comparison to what we’ve already heard from you in the past?

Well, the biggest thing is that “Just Drive” is an up-beat love song, while “Drunk Too” was my heart-break slow song. However lyrically, one thing I tried to keep consistent between the songs are the storytelling/ conversational lyrics in both!

4. You’ve said that the song is reminiscent of the pop rock of Paramore, but with country lyrics? Where do you feel that a song like this will best fit with the current trends of radio? The country music side of things, the pop and rock side of things, or somewhere in the middle of both?

The song definitely leans on the country side of things, but being able to incorporate the alternative big guitars and drums was really fun!

5. On the subject of Paramore…although you are a country singer/songwriter, it sounds like you have a wide range of influences. In what ways did Paramore (and other acts outside of country) influence you getting into music the most?

Growing up I listened to just about everything. For me, when I decided to pursue music, I started listening to music in a whole new way, even just in the car. So any music that I have ever listened to has definitely played a part in how I write songs, even in the smallest ways.

6. You co-wrote “Just Drive” with Michael August and Josh Ronen. How important is it to you that you play a part in writing the songs that you perform? But also, how important is it for you to have co-writers who bring their ideas to the table?

Collaboration is my favorite way to create music. I think being able to bounce ideas off of each other and see things from different angles, is how I’ve been able to write stronger songs than I could have alone. That being said, as an artist it’s always really important to me to tell my story and make sure I’m carrying my weight in any room I get to be in!

7. You did a lot of fun build up on social media ahead of announcing “Just Drive” as your next single where you gave clues out to your followers about what the announcement would be. Tell us a little bit about how that idea all came about.

The idea of teasing the song on different platforms came from a few different things, but mainly how cool it was to have the excitement behind my debut single from the same thing! I knew I wanted to hint at the song early, and to try to get everyone as excited as I was for the new song!

8. If you can share with us, what were some of your most favorite wrong answers that you received on your posts/teasers about the new single releasing?

Haha! Some of my favorite answers were that I was getting a new car, that I got a tire sponsorship, and that I was moving back to Texas!

9. And you’ve also recently released a live performance video of the song. Tell us a little bit about shooting that and why it was important to have a visual piece to go along with the song for you? Can we expect a music video for the song in the future as well?

Shooting the live version of “Just Drive” was really fun and special to me for many reasons. The first one being that I got to film it with my band who I have been performing alongside for 7 years. They’re all like brothers to me so being able to shoot the video with them was really special. I also love having a visual element to the songs I put out, so it made sense. We don’t have a professional music video planned for now, but if people keep loving the song like they seem to, maybe it’ll be in the future!

10. Finally, you’ll be heading to your hometown later this month to play Southern Junction Nightclub in Royse City, TX. This will be your first concert in your hometown area since releasing “Drunk Too.” What are you most looking forward to with this show in particular?

I am excited to kick off live gigs with my full band in a place that is so special to me. Live shows have always been one of my favorite things, but I’m super excited to get to perform surrounded by so many people who have supported me since the beginning.
