Q&A's

With “Back Roads” having firmly placed his name on the country music map last year, Chase Mitchell now continues making strong impact with his summertime single “Strawberry Daiquiris.” We had the wonderful opportunity to check in with Chase just ahead of CMA Fest (2023) and chat with him about the new single, why he feels his music is resonating with the fans so much, his appearances around town during CMA Fest that includes a few performances and several meet-n-greets, his infections live energy and feel-good vibe, and so much more!

(Interview by: Jeffrey Kurtis

1) The 50th CMA Fest is coming up in just a few weeks and you’ll be in town for it. What are you looking forward to most about being around Nashville during this milestone event?

I’m super excited about CMA fest this year. It’s been years since I’ve attended and many years since I’ve last got a chance to play it, so for sure I’m most looking forward to rocking out on the 11th at Assembly Food Hall, downtown Broadway!

2) You mentioned playing the Nash News stage at Assembly Food Hall on Sunday June 11 (5PM). Why do fans absolutely need to add your performance to their calendars and what can they expect from it?

With so many amazing artists playing throughout the weekend I know it’ll be tough for fans to catch all their favorite performances, but I know for certain that we’re ready to rock out and we’ve prepared so many cool montages of some of my favorite covers and originals! So fans will absolutely have to stop by and come jam!

3) What other events throughout CMA Fest weekend will fans be able to find you at?

June 9th I’ll be at the Kendra Scott store on 5th and Broadway doing an appearance and signing for the Helping Music Foundation 12-1pm and then on June 10th I’ll be doing another appearance and signing at the Nashville Universe Booth 10-11am

4) Switching over to your latest music…your newest single “Strawberry Daiquiris” is hitting strong for you right now. Tell us a little bit more about the song.

I’m super pumped about “Strawberry Daiquiris” being released to radio last month since it’s the summertime and I love nothing more than a good ole fashion feel good song while hanging by the beach drinking a daiquiri, it’s a vibe !

5) With so many other summer edged songs coming out right now, what do you feel is making this one stand out so much?

I think it’s the vibe and groove, the imagery, and the relatability. Everyone’s fallen in love before at the beach, and everyone wants to go back to that first time summertime love feeling.

6) We have to talk about “Back Road” as well; the single prior to “Strawberry Daiquiris.” This really was your incredible breakout song. Why do you think that song resonated so much with the listener?

I think again it’s about relatability and writing a story that everyone can understand and has lived in their own lifetime. And finding and losing love in a small town where you grew up is very relatable!

7) Moving over to your live shows…tell us more about your current CheerTour dates in partnership with Deep South Spirit Competition Cheer Company.

These last six months have been a whirlwind and It’s been so amazing! I’ve got to play some of the largest venues the country has to offer with thousands of screaming cheerleaders who certainly know how to bring the energy! Deep South Spirit has been incredible to me, and we’re working on some more dates for this coming year, so stay tuned!

8) You also recently delivered a buzzworthy performance at the popular Bus Call here in Nashville. What was it about that performance that you felt hit the Nashville fans in just the right ways that they’re still talking about it a few weeks later?

I don’t get too many chances to play in town so when I do, I try to make sure that I’ve got the best players backing me because Lord knows everyone in Nashville that plays music is amazing and they all always bring their A game, and so we were no exception! We had a game face on, and we brought it, and the audience could feel it! Which for us performers…that’s the best feeling!

9) Speaking of getting struck by a performance from you the right way. We were blessed enough to be at a Cash Creek Club Live show a little over a year ago when you hopped up on stage and blasted the crowd with a crazy amount of energy. What’s your connection with Kimo Forrest and the Cash Creek guys?

One of my managers, Tony Conway, manages Alabama, and I’ve been blessed to be invited to a few Alabama shows and I’ve gotten to hang with their band. Kimo plays in Alabama’s touring band and he and I hit it off right away. Kimo is a beast!! He invited me out that evening to jam and I loved every minute of it!! That night was a blast!

10) We always end with this one, but what one piece of advice can you offer to someone who is just starting out and trying to break into the music industry?

Reflect on your past, focus on your future, but remember to live in the present moment because in a moment’s notice it can all be gone So stay true to yourself and appreciate the journey along the way not the destination.
