LUKE BRYAN - Love You, Miss You, Mean It - Capitol Records Nashville

Five-time Entertainer of the Year Luke Bryan debuted a brand-new song at Country Radio Seminar in Nashville in February at Universal Music Group’s annual luncheon.  A couple months later, the country music superstar is set to release the tune as his latest single.

“Love You Miss You Mean It” is available now digitally and on all streaming platforms, and began impacting radio stations nationwide on April 8th.

At a point in his career when he can selectively decide what direction he wants to take with his releases, Bryan was immediately drawn to this song, and knew he wanted to put his own stamp on it for the fans.

“This song was special from the first time I heard it,” Luke said.  “I knew it would resonate.  It’s about young love and that whole process of trying to make relationships work through the on again and off again cycles.  My wife and I went through that journey during college and I know a lot of people out there have too.”

Written by Rhett Akins, Ben Hayslip, Jordan Minton, and Jacob Rice, the track ventures its way through the ebbs and flows of a relationship between two people who are growing up individually and as a couple.  Through the highs and lows, their love grows stronger, and while it’s not always easy, it’s the love and passion that always keeps both sides coming back time and time again.

“And she’d say, ‘Love you, miss you, mean it

Boy, I’ll see you when I’m dreamin’

I can’t wait to feel you hold me again

Till then I’ll be countin’ down the minutes

I’ll be climbin’ up these walls

Your kiss, I want it, need it

Love you, mis you, mean it, baby”

This is a good song; it’s not the “catchiest” and it’s not the easiest to sing-along-with or dance to in his musical catalogue.  What this song is, though, is a representation of the continued transition and migration of a superstar’s approach to music.  Luke is still at the height of his popularity and success in the industry, which makes it even more impressive that he is still adapting and pivoting his focus on the music, lyrics, and message from song to song and album to album, during his continued reign as one of the biggest stars in not only country music, but across all genres.

Songs like “All My Friends Say” and “Country Girl (Shake It For Me)”, while released seemingly ages ago, almost seem to be from another artist at this point.  Both songs, and others like it that he has put out during his career, were wildly popular and garnered him unprecedented success, but his maturity as a songwriter and musician has become unequivocally notable over the years.

Bryan is kicking off his 2024 Mind Of A County Boy Tour on April 17th in Calgary, Canada.  The five-month trek will feature a long list of special guests, from Chayce Beckham and Tenille Arts to Larry Fleet and Ella Langley, among many others, hitting markets across the country through mid-September.
