In a very short time, Gabby Barrett has transformed herself from a perceived promising young pop country crossover singer to a well-rounded, uber-talented and undeniably-driven country music singer, songwriter, producer, and artist.

Having released her sophomore album, ‘Chapter & Verse’, in February, the Pittsburgh, PA native has taken her career to the next level, showcasing the ability to leave her mark on every aspect of her music, from its conception to the recording to the delivery.

Her latest tune, “Dance Like No One’s Watching,” is available now digitally and on all streaming platforms via Warner Music Nashville.

Written by Emily Weisband, James Mcnair, and Luke Combs, the emotionally-driven ballad tells the tale of a bond between father and daughter, tugging at the heart strings of the listener the way only country music can do.

Told from the perspective of the child, the song delicately glides through time, from a daddy-daughter dance to leaving for college to dancing together at her wedding.  It’s emotional, vulnerable, honest, and undeniably relatable, putting the listener in the middle of the story while also inducing thoughts and memories from our own lives.

Lyrically, the song is brilliant, with its poetic approach and use of imagery painting a picture for us all to see in our minds and our hearts.

Whatever you do

And if life gives you love, fall in, but always be you

Oh, ‘cause, girl, it’s a big world and it’s so easy to get lost in

Barrett’s vocals are perfectly on point throughout, with her trademark ebbs and flows prevalent throughout the track, expressing the emotional complexity of a child while transgressing to the thoughts from a woman’s perfective, all in just over three minutes.

As has been the case with her past singles, this is yet another example of how this gifted songstress has embraced her talent as a singer while continuing to hone her craft and further develop herself as a highly-touted and well-respected country music artist.

Following previous releases “Growin’ Up Raisin’ You” and “Glory Days”, “Dance Like No One’s Watching” is another chapter in the ever-growing musical story of a still-budding star.  Since formally introducing herself to the national audience in 2018 on American Idol, Gabby has found her niche within the country music genre – not fun, upbeat party sing-along tracks…but heartfelt, sentimental, thought-provoking stories that resonate in the hearts and minds of her listeners.
