MATT SCHUSTER - Tell Me Tennessee - Warner Music Nashville

In February 2023, we at Today’s Country Magazine reviewed a new song from singer-songwriter Matt Schuster called “Wasted Prayers.”  The Charleston, IL native had only moved to Nashville a few months earlier, and yet his vocal ability, range, and talent, along with his unique and intuitive songwriting style, was undeniable.

Flash forward seventh months and as we approach the fourth quarter of the year, we are beyond excited to be reviewing his major label debut single.  “Tell Me Tennessee” is available everywhere now via Warner Music Nashville.

Co-written by Schuster along with Josh Dorr, Andy Albert, and Lalo Guzman, “Tell Me Tennessee” is a nostalgic and hopeful ode to a musician chasing his dream in Music City while also longing for a love he lost along the way.  Along the path of achieving our most prized aspirations, we encounter trials and tribulations, both personally and professionally.  It’s all a part of the journey to where we are meant to be.

Crooning his way through the verses and unleashing his powerful vocal range as the chorus hits, Matt tells the tale of the internal struggle he feels between chasing that Nashville dream and pursuing the girl who got away.

“If I called your cell, you’d still pick it up

Reminisce all night about high school us

When your lease runs out, couple months from now

Tell me you’re headed east, you’re comin’ home to me”

Throughout the track, Matt’s gritty vocal demeanor is on full display, never adhering to the power and range he possesses at all the key moments of nostalgically emotional tune.  It’s a mid-tempo number, intertwining moments of toe-tapping enjoyment with subdued musical focus on the lyrics, offering something for every listener’s mood.

Thoughtfully written and incredibly delivered, “Tell Me Tennessee” checks all the boxes of a song that will surely garner the attention of new and old fans, along with industry reps and media alike…and rightfully so.

Schuster amassed over 60 million streams across his social media platforms with original tunes including “Know Ya”, “From The Start”, and “Who Are you Kidding” prior to making the move to Nashville.  With the move in his rearview mirror for nearly a year and a half, Schuster inked a publishing deal with UMPG earlier this year, and earned a well-deserved cut on Bailey Zimmerman’s new album.  An already-accomplished and sought-after songwriter, the Illinois native is set to take the next step as a major label recording artist.

Having already been on the road with Ashley Cooke, Matt has dates scheduled with Dylan Scott and Kameron Marlowe at venues across the northeast and southeast from now through December.
