KIMBERLY PERRY - Fool's Gold - RECORDS Nashville/Columbia Records

Kimberly Perry is taking the next step in her solo career with the release of her new single, “Fool’s Gold”, available everywhere now via RECORDS Nashville / Columbia Records.

The Jackson, MS native’s exploration into pop music as front lady of The Band Perry inspired the lyricism of her latest release, one that has given her fresh perspective on who she is and where she should be as a person and as a singer-songwriter.  The experience was both humbling and rewarding, leading her back to country music.

“While I needed that season and that adventure to discover more about who I am, all of it ultimately led me back home to Tennessee, to Johnny, and to country music,” Kimberly shared.  “Thank God for the dead ends, it’s where we get to spin around and start making our way to our truest selves.”

“Fool’s Gold” is an upbeat, modern tune with all the elements of a country radio single.  It’s catchy with the hooks and vibes in all the right places at all the right moments.  Perry’s vocals dance across the verses and soar through the choruses, providing everything we need in a pop-country anthem.

Lyrically, this is a rather straightforward ode to living life and learning lessons, while realizing the grass isn’t always greener on the other side.  Experience is a valuable teacher, and sometimes we need to go on adventures to unchartered territories in order to realize we have always been where we are meant to be all along.

“Turns out my jackpot still owes me money

So I left the land of milk and honey

The high side of hindsight is it’s 20/20

My lucky penny’s sittin’ pretty deep in Tennessee”

Kimberly’s vocals, a trademark favorite of the most successful of The Band Perry’s hits, is beautifully showcased on this track.  But more than just the range and power are the passion and emotion invoked throughout, adding to the substance behind the upbeat cautionary tale.

“Fool’s Gold” is her first new music since the ‘Bloom’ EP, released in June.  The set served as her solo country artist debut, and was headlined by her single, “If I Die Young Pt. 2.”

After making her solo artist debut at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry as well as CMA Fest earlier this year, the Grammy Award-winner is gearing up for the release of an extended version of ‘Bloom.’  Slated for October 27th, ‘Superbloom’ promises to be one of more highly anticipated new records of the fall
