PARMALEE - Boyfriend - Stoney Creek Records

People’s Choice Country Award nominees Parmalee has released a brand-new tune in anticipation of their forthcoming extended-album release, ‘For You 2,’ on September 22nd.  “Boyfriend,” an irresistibly catchy sing-along track comprised of the hooks and melodies of a contemporary country number, is available now via Stoney Creek Records.

Written by lead singer Matt Thomas along with David Fanning, Ashley Gorley, Ben Johnson, Michael Hardy, and Hunter Phelps, the tune serves as a promise to a girl to treat her better than she is in her current relationship.  It’s a short-but-sweet account of an ode to the girl you want, can’t have, and wish you could be the one to have her and love her the way she deserves.

“You’re in love with a girl who’s getting treated badly and all you can think is if she was yours, you would treat her right and put a ring on her finger,” Thomas said.  “The melody and production has a bit of a country-punk vibe, and I think it’s going to add some fun energy and attitude to our set.”

The musical arrangement perfectly supports the vocal progression, and the production is top notch as always on a Parmalee-released track.  Lyrically, this is a simple, down-to-earth sing-along for fans young and old, with the words imbedding into the listener’s head before the song’s conclusion.

“If I was your boyfriend, I would treat you right

Put you in a house on picture-perfect drive

I don’t know his name or what the hell’s he waitin’ on

But if I was your boyfriend, I wouldn’t be your boyfriend long”

The release of “Boyfriend” comes as their current single, “Girl In Mine,” nears the Top 5 on the Country Radio Singles chart.  The tune follows in the path of the successful string of releases when the platinum-selling band first made its mark on the country music genre, including “Must Had A Good Time,” “Carolina,” “Close Your Eyes,” and “Already Callin’ You Mine.”

The forthcoming ‘For You 2’ album will include “Boyfriend” as well as the aforementioned “Girl In Mine,” as well as three additional new tunes.  The release comes as the North Carolina natives are still riding the momentum of “Take My Name,” Billboard’s Most Played Country Song of 2022, as well as their double-platinum hit “Just The Way,” featuring Blanco Brown.  They are currently on the road as a special guest on Grammy-Award winning band Train’s tour, with additional special appearances scheduled through the fall and into the winter.
