EMILY ANN ROBERTS - Walkin' Shoes - Starstruck Records

September 22, 2023 cannot come soon enough for us here at Today’s Country Magazine!  ‘Can’t Hide Country,’ the highly anticipated album from Starstruck Entertainment’s Emily Ann Roberts, is set for release in less than a month, and the talented singer-songwriter has just delivered a new song from the project, “Walkin’ Shoes.”

Co-written with Chris Utley, Nicole Croteau, and Kaylin Roberson, the latest release from Emily is an ode to empowerment and self-worth, addressing a topic that is unfortunately all too familiar to many of us.  The disloyalty of a relationship partner is something that is prevalent in our society, regardless of your gender, sexual orientation and age.  Many of us have found ourselves in a relationship in which infidelity reared its ugly head.  As is the case with anything else we encounter in life, everyone handles situations differently.  “Walkin’ Shoes” is Emily’s advice to ultimately end the relationship and walk away from the unfaithfulness and accompanying pain and misery.

Lyrically, this song is an instant sing-along classic that fans and listeners everywhere will gravitate towards, telling an all-too familiar tale of cheating, lies, and cover-ups.

“You’ve been doin’ his laundry

Tryin’ to pretend his sins ain’t underneath that rug

He’s been getting’ off with I’m sorry”

But girl, sorry don’t’ mean a thing if he don’t back it up”

However, despite the relatable subject matter and lyrical imagery, one element of this tune that should never fade from the forefront is Emily’s incredible vocals.  This woman is in a category all her own with her vocal bravado, range, and empowering delivery that can impact the listener’s mood and set the scene for the lyrics story with one line.  As has become a trademark of her releases thus far, “Walkin’ Shoes” showcases a variety of influences, both modern and traditional, of the likes of pop and country, with her irresistibly delicious vocals stealing the limelight throughout the empowering anthem.

With standout tunes including “He Set Her Off” and “Infinity” among others, this talented songstress has garnered over 25 million streams to date and continues to build the fanbase to which she first introduced herself during her run on NBC’s “The Voice” in 2015.  In support of the new record, Emily is expected to add dates to her performance calendar, which currently includes a dozen shows from Ohio to Texas to Tennessee from now through mid-November.
