Since long before he smashed records with “Fancy Like,” Walker Hayes has consistently showcased his ability to write catchy, memorable songs with specific lyrical lines that keep people talking as they bop along with souped-up melodies.

He now returns to country radio with “Good With Me,” our first look at his forthcoming project, New Money.

Through his alluring down-home, simple man aura, he leans the charming aspect of his tonality into an addictive melody to tackle the toughest, hot button subjects that are infecting todays over opinionated mentality of us versus them.

Not shying away from any of the argumentative opinions, he uses each of the verses to run through a contradictory listing while metaphorically shrugging his shoulders indifferently as he touches on those who laugh at the ones who think Jesus is coming back, the Bud Light controversary, COVID, closing the border, government overreach, etc.

He even goes so far as to poke fun at himself, memorably singing lines such as, “Buddy thinks everything I sing sucks cause it don't sound like Hank” andlabel thinks I'ma get canceled soon as I put out this song (I hope I don't).”

However, this song isn’t about the negativity that comes attached to all the pointing of fingers, but it’s about embracing your life and enjoying every simple moment of it as he makes perfectly clear when he slides into the ultra-catchy chorus, singing cleverly of all the things that work so well together.

“Beer goes good with a lake

And a lake goes good with a dock

And a dock goes good with a fish on a hook

And a hook goes good with a country song

And a song goes good with a smile (That's right)

And a smile goes good with a kiss

And a kiss goes good with you

And baby, you go good with me”

Whereas most songs of this nature come equipped with a ready to fight tone as they beat you over the head with their points of view, Hayes skirts all that mess to say, “Hey! It is what it is, but this sweet life that I’m living is the one I like to focus on.”

With this song impacting immediately, I suspect that Walker Hayes is looking at his next big hit. We’re absolutely clamoring for songs like this to help us find simple, common ground instead of getting swallowed up all this complicated division, offering positive focus on what truly matters most in life and coming at us with pure heart to inspire the idea of, “there’s a better way!”
