TCM Class of 2023 artist and Owensboro, KY native Hayley Payne has released a brand new single.  “Should Be Chasing You” is available now digitally as well on all streaming platforms.

Co-written by Payne along with Lauren McLamb and Regan Stewart, the pop-country anthem is an ode to those who have suffered due to a false relationship and are ready to put it in the past and move on to something better.

“This one’s for the girlies who are done settling for less than they deserve and chasing guys who aren’t worth their time,” Hayley shared.

Lyrically, this is a clever, witty, story-telling fun sing-along number that will resonate with fans of modern country music everywhere.  While she is still a new name to some fans, Hayley has found her niche in the genre.  She has a knack for crafting down-to-earth, relatable lyrics alongside smooth, catchy melodies that are ear-friendly but also offer a real-life lesson.

“Should Be Chasing You” tells the tale of that one friend whom we know that needs to get out of an unhealthy relationship, but sometimes the person in the relationship is the last to see the signs that it needs to end.  Using imagery and innuendos associated with a night out on the town, the song reiterates the reality that her friend deserves better and the man she’s with deserves to be chasing, not catching, her.

“He’s treating you like you’re the lime

And not the tequila

Got you feeling like

He doesn’t need ya

Girl you’re the jack not the coke

You’re the buzz not the smoke

On his breath

After a few

And he should be chasing you”

Payne first formally introduced herself to the country music world with her song “Dumb Blonde,” garnering the attention of fans, critics, and fellow artists alike with its intuitive and relatable lyrics along with its upbeat, catchy modern melody.  The ultra-catchy “Runnin’ Late” was followed by “End in Boyfriend,” released just in time for Valentine’s Day, and she also had a recent co-write cut with Molly Lovette’s “Flower Girl.”

In addition to the release of a brand-new single, Hayley is set to be keeping busy on the road as well this fall, with dates scheduled in Nashville as well as her home state of Kentucky from now through late October.  A gifted songwriter and an energetic live performer, Payne is a must-see if you have the opportunity.
