Using this past year to really focus on crafting her next chapter through the lens of her wide range of influences, Madeline Consoer has skillfully balanced the edges of modern country and rock with flashes of pop punk spirit, reidentifying herself with music lovers who may only recognize her from her appearance on The Voice.

“I have this theory that if he won’t make it official, you can call your mom and tell her about him and that technically makes it official,” she matter-of-factly stated on her social media pages during the lead up to her brand-new single, “I Told My Mom About You,” which could be her defining, break out song.

Following the blistering revenge fuel of the punk rock infused “Little Miss,” “I Told My Mom About You” sees her switching gears to embrace a modern kissed 90’s country aura with an addictively catchy bop that will have you clamoring for it to play on repeat as you bounce around your room, shoulder dance in your car, or click your boot heels on a Friday night dance floor.

Admitting throughout the song that while she isn’t trying to scare him away by moving too fast even though they said they wouldn’t, the opening verse instantly plays out like a confessional as she sings of not being the type to usually kiss and tell, but that she also let it slip out about him when she was on the phone with her mom.

The slight dips of her vocal allow her to intriguingly hit a lower register, while the naturally embedded bluesy grit adds raw fuel to the energy of the flirtatious, sing along sass of the chorus:

“I kept talk talk talkin

Got my heart stop stopping

When your walk walk walkin my way

And I’ve been up in my feelings

And sweet tea spillin the truth

I didn’t mean to but

I told my mom about you

Your eyes, the way you look in mine

Your truck, my drive

I told my mom about you”

The second verse then sees her running down a list of the gentleman qualities he instantly showered her with that had her heart beating a little faster and swooning over him to her mama, including how he picked her up with roses in hand, showed up right on time, and brought her favorite wine.

Already a very solid contender for high impacting radio airplay, the irresistible clap along into the final chorus also injects the song with an instant audience participation moment to further enhance its all-around attractiveness, both through our speakers and during her live shows.
