Released as part of a three-pack with “If I Was Doing Any Better” and “Bury Me With My Guitar,” platinum selling artist Jameson Rodgers continues to pump out new music with “Whiskey Train.”

The song, co-written by Rodgers, Smith Ahnquist, Will Bundy, and Lynn Hutton, spotlights a side that we don’t often get to experience from him as he taps directly into his 90’s country influences to deliver a two-and-a-half-minute mud stomping barnburner dedicated to blue-collar folks, raising a spirited toast of everyone’s favorite Tennessee black label #7.

Leaning into a toe-tapping rhythm that instantly transports you to a sawdust covered dance floor, Rodgers immediately connects with the working class, just as he did with “Cold Beer Calling My Name,” when he opens the song by singing, “5 o’ clock on Friday, I can hear that whistle blowin’,” before travelling down to the bar and bringing the listener along for the ride.

Painting perfect pictures of a recognizable roadside bar, he describes it as the type of place that pumps out drinking songs and where everybody buys a round…and it’s his turn to buy! As he owns up to the task and hops aboard the whiskey train to get his drink on.

Knowingly admitting in the second verse that he has a reputation of getting a little crazy and a whole lotta wild when he’s throwing back the Jack, Rodgers metaphorically shrugs his shoulders while utilizing the bridge to confess that he knows when the morning comes around that he’ll be jumping on the struggle bus…tonight’s a night for whiskey!

Jameson Rodgers has worn many hats over the past decade, from being a hitmaking songwriter behind the scenes to being a sought-after artist with song releases that have combined to showcase his incredible versatility, whether that’s a more brokenhearted turn on songs such as “Missing One,” a sentimental side on “Mine for the Summer,” or a nostalgic, thought-provoking aura on “Things That Matter.”

“Whiskey Train,” a song which differentiates itself from not only his back catalog of music but the other songs that it released alongside, has just added another layer of intrigue to his resume.

Jameson opened his headlining ‘Whiskey Train Tour’ on August 31, 2023 in Starkville, MS, and can be found on the road this fall on select dates with Jordan Davis, Old Dominion, and Darius Rucker.
