Throughout the history of country music, some things have changed and some things have remained the same.  While influences and styles have certainly diversified over the years, one constant is that some of the greatest songs ever written have been out of pain, sadness, and heartbreak.

In the case of Warner Music Nashville’s Avery Anna, experiencing life’s trials and tribulations of love and expressing the accompanying emotions through her gift of singing and songwriting have led her to become one of the brightest young stars in country music.  Her brand-new single, “Worst In Me,” is available digitally and on all streaming platforms now.

“You’re holding my head down

And watch me while I drown

Oh, I wish you cared about

The way you drag my heart around”

These poetic and vivid lyrics encompass just who this talented songstress is and ability she possesses to perfectly illustrate the feelings we have when we are involved in a relationship that is emotionally toiling, draining, and destined to fail.

“I hate that it’s true

It’s easy to see

How I bring out the best in you

And you bring out the worst in me”

Co-written by Avery along with Ava Suppelsa and Daniell Blakey, the song showcases the Arizona native’s beautiful, raw vocal talent, flexibility, and range.  Her delivery seems effortless as she perfectly reflects the tune’s emotional impact while intertwining moments of vulnerability and strength, grief and resolve, diffident and bravery.

As is the case for most songwriters, the inspiration behind “Worst In Me” came from a place of past experience from Anna, who has been referred to as the “resident sad girl songstress” due to her uncanny and virtually unmatched ability to articulate her past heartbreak into a musical poem of realization, revelation, and resurrection.  And every note written and every word sung came straight from a place of honesty, integrity, and vulnerability.

“Writing ‘Worst In Me’ was a very emotional experience for me,” Avery shared.  “It’s a song about what it’s like to constantly lift somebody up that only brings you down, and the emotional toll it takes on you.”

The natural abilities of her songwriting and performing along with her undeniable work ethic have demanded the industry’s attention, ultimately resulting in her record deal with Warner Music Nashville as well as the success of her viral hit song “Narcissist.”

Supporting of her debut project, ‘Mood Swings,’ from 2022, Avery has released two songs thus far.  “Worst In Me” follows “Self Love,” which has garnered nearly 20 million streams globally.

In addition to releasing a new single, Avery has a busy schedule on the road from now through the end of the year.  Following a trek in Europe with BRELAND she will hit play a string of shows with Jordan Davis before jumping on board as a special guest on Cole Swindell’s The Twelve Tour, which will hit arenas from coast to coast through fall and into the winter.
