Pine Top, KY native and rising country music starlet Tyra Madison has accumulated over 12 million streams across all digital service platforms to date, has been featured on some of the more exclusive playlists on Spotify and Apple Music, and has shared the stage with the likes of Maddie & Tae, Priscilla Block, and Ernest.  With every new song offered, this Belmont University alum’s star shines brighter, and that trend is sure to continue with the release of her latest tune, “Hurts A Little Less.”

Madison’s latest offering will touch on a topic that is sensitive and personal to many of us – recovering from and moving on from heartbreak.  We have all been through trials, tribulations and hardships and it can be difficult to process those thoughts, feelings, emotions and eventually put them in your rearview mirror.

“Hurts A Little Less” is an honest and accurate reflection of heartache following the end of a relationship coupled with the struggle of resisting the urge to fall back into the same.  Change can be hard for most of us, and the head and the heart can play tricks on us with what we think we want versus what is inevitably best for us.

Throughout the verses and chorus, Tyra narrates how the feelings of heartbreak are familiar to her, but as the song progresses, she realizes that while she is still heartbroken, she isn’t quite as devasted as she has been in the past.  Her emotions, while still controlled by grief and sadness, also reveal a glimmer of hope that she won’t feel this way forever.  It’s a statement of strength, resilience, and self-confidence that she deserves and will find someone new and better.

“Hurts a little less than a sledge hammer pounding your chest in the middle of the night

Hurts a little less than your whole world shaking when it’s taken in the blink of an eye

Hurts a little less than a freight train wrecking everything inside

Yeah, you might’ve just broken my heart again

But it hurts a little less

Hurts a little less this time”

The arrangement of the tune perfectly articulates the somber yet hopeful vibe, and Tyra’s vocals are on point as usual.  Her voice is on another level, and it seems she can accomplish anything she wants to when she sings.  The emotion and conviction that she is able to portray through her vocal delivery is flawless, which, in part, is due to the personal attachment and relatability she has to the songs she writes and performs.

“This song is a raw and honest reflection of the pain and growth that comes with heartbreak,” Tyra said.  “I hope it resonates with anyone who has experienced the struggle of letting go and finding strength in the midst of it all.”

“Hurts A Little Less” follows the crime show inspired “Plead The 5th”, which was released in May, as well as “Right Girl Wrong Time”, her breakout single which has amassed over 12 million streams with the accompanying music video premiering exclusively on CMT.com.  Tyra is preparing for the release of her debut EP, scheduled for an as-of-yet unannounced date in the fall.  If her previous singles are any indication, it’s sure to be a must-listen.
