As we are nearing the end of July, the best summer anthem song may have just been released to country music.  “Young Love & Saturday Nights”, the latest single from multi-platinum star Chris Young, is now available on all streaming platforms.

Written by Ashley Gorley, Jesse Frasure and Josh Thompson, the up-tempo tune features the signature guitar lick from David Bowie’s “Rebel Rebel”, and is sure to be one of the standout tracks of the summer.

At this point in his career, having tallied 3 platinum albums and 12 platinum singles, Young has the luxury and freedom to decide the direction he wants to go from song to song.  His choice for “Young Love & Saturday Nights” was direct and immediate, as he connected with the vibe and melody while the lyrics reminded him of his own experience as a young musician.

“It made me think back to when I first got started playing country dive bards and it was the same kind of thing,” he shares.  “Young love and Saturday nights are things that just go together and this feels like one of those big summer songs where you just want to roll the windows down, crank up the volume, and just drive around to it.”

The groove of this song immediately takes the listener to a place of care-free relaxation and musical ecstasy.  The toe-tapping and head-bopping begin within the first few seconds of the irresistibly catchy hooks, and Young’s vocals, as usual, put the tune over the top.  His ability to continuously impress and surpass even the greatest expectations is unprecedented.  For most upbeat, anthem type tunes, the vocal performance falls secondary to the hooks and melodies, but not when Chris Young is the singer.  His vocal bravado, range, and musical audacity put him in a very small elite group of singers…not just in country music, but across all genres.

The lyrics are fun, easy, and relatable.  Upon the first listen, most will find themselves stumbling through the chorus trying to sing along while swaying to the beat that stays true and constant from start to finish.

“Here’s to good girls that can’t keep from falling

For bad boys that their daddies don’t like

Small towns that keep staying small

Here’s to old trucks, young love, and Saturday nights”

Co-produced by Young along with Corey Crowder and Chris DeStefano, the tune has also made a splash on television with the release of its music video on the CMT Hot 20.  All signs, energy, and momentum point to this being the latest in a seemingly endless string of hit singles for one of the decade’s most successful artists in country music.

“Young Love & Saturday Nights” follows “Looking For You”, marking Young’s first solo single in three years and is currently Top 15 on the both the Billboard Country and Mediabase radio charts.  Fans can catch Chris on the road this summer and fall, as he has nearly two dozen dates scheduled across the country, from Massachusetts to California to Florida, and everywhere in between, from now through mid-November.
