Since hitting the MusicRow CountryBreakout chart in 2021 with her single “Somebody’s Else’s,” talented songstress Chloe Collins has really used these past few years to develop an impressive array of her extreme versatility and undeniable talent.

Where “Red Looks Good On Me” slid into an alternative rock vibe, “Devil I Know” sat within a haunting feel, and “That’s On You” and “Do It For The Plot” both pulled from a garage rock influence to bring a punk rock spirit into her fold.

But regardless of which style Collins dipped her toe into, she confidently showcased her know-how by keeping the uniqueness of her voice at center of each song while highlighting her incredible songwriting prowess.

She now returns with her latest effort, “Hard To Get.”

The song, co-written by Chloe with Abigayle Komps & Reid Sorell, initially borrows ideals from an alternative influence through its intro, allowing Collins to then expertly flow through a fresh, modern flare that once again sees her toeing the line of genre comfort zones to give us a blast of her signature feels and willing ambitiousness to find familiarity within the different.

She uses the opening verse to run through the gamut of emotions that arrive as you reach your breaking point and are staring at the realization that it’s better to walk away from someone who you wanted so badly, then to keep chasing after the toxicity of being ignored by them and kept in waiting on the potential what if.

Confessing in the chorus that as much as she tries to stop herself from thinking about him it’s hard to get him off her mind, she fully places the blame for her own agony on herself when she sings, “If I was wise, I wouldn’t bet on someone playing hard to get,” clearly signaling that she knew better but allowed her heart to go there anyways.

The second verse sees a slight shift in the accompaniment, adding an insatiable backbeat that wraps the perfectly darker tone into the now upbeat mix as Collins twists her vocals into frustration territory, spewing out the fact that she’s the best he never had as the next dip into the chorus adds an intriguing pop induced flavor that turns up the bop factor on an otherwise moody aura.

With the song earning high praise on socials when Chloe played it during a recent livestream, she answered her fans demand to release it thus making it a surefire bet to strike big out the gate. However, her ability to flawlessly walk her music along several different genre lines while creating a unique piece that derives from unbridled emotions is what not only makes “Hard To Get” resonate with her uber strong following, but is also the reasons it will attract a healthy array of new listeners to her music as she continues to build her fan base.
