KYLIE FREY
"Hell Of A Life"
Deep Frey'd Music
Having already achieved eight number one’s on the Texas Music Charts, including with “Horses in Heaven,” “One Night In Tulsa,” “I Do Thing,” and her most recent single “Red Dirt Cinderella,” Kylie Frey has positioned herself to break out in an even bigger way with her newest release, “Hell of a Life.”
The song, co-written with Trent Willmon, derived from her eureka moment after she first met Jesus and fully understood that being who He created you to be is exactly who you oughta be.
Embodying the spirit of Texas country through its traditional based instrumentation, Frey delicately toes the perfect balance between Lone Star flare and Nashville flavor when she leans into the ultra-catchy sway of the tempo driven melody, allowing her purely enlightened joyfulness to shine within her voice.
Holding tightly to the idea of living each moment while you still can, Frey appreciatively paints the picture of being a touring musician through the first verse, before unapologetically swerving into the encouraging fact that being yourself is who you were created to be when she boldly declares, “I ain’t doing this world no favors being anybody else but me.”
Radiating a sassy glow that shines the chorus, she tackles the thought of sliding headfirst into heaven when the time comes with a little more bruising, quite a bit battered, and wearing a knowing smile that nods to a life well lived:
“I know it ain’t gonna be pretty
When I get to those pearly gates
Both guns blazing, gravel flying
Sliding in sideways
If I look a little ragged when I meet St. Pete
I reckon that’ll be alright
Cause I wanna say when I get to heaven
That I lived one hell of a live.”
Shrugging her shoulders at the scars she carries that cement the moments of her life’s damn good story, while cleverly reiterating that we’re merely renting the body we’re living in so we might as well get our money’s worth, Kylie Frey has wrapped a poignant, much-needed message of living life to its fullest around a melody that stays stuck in your head for days.
Having already built a very solid resume, and with a teased appearance on this season of America’s Got Talent on the near horizon, the time is now for Kylie Frey to hit the national chart, and “Hell of a Life” is absolutely the right song to catapult her to next level success.
