CHRIS LANE
"Summer Job Money"
Big Loud Records
With three #1 charting singles, “Big Big Plans,” “I Don’t Know About You,” and “Fix,” multi-platinum country star Chris Lane is certainly on everyone’s radar with every song he releases.
That said, he has created an immediate buzz with the release of “Fill Them Boots,” and quickly followed up on it with “Summer Job Money,” his second, sunshine infused single released within a week.
Penned by John Byron and Blake Pendergrass, this new song follows suit with what we have come to expect from Lane as far as the overall vibe of the song is considered; tempo-driven modern country that fuses together with a perfect pop balance to catch your attention and pull you into the melody.
Where this song excels, however, is in its lyrics. Dripping with flirtatious nostalgia, Chris Lane looks back from his now perspective on what life would have been like when he was a carefree 17-year-old had he met the girl he is with today back then.
Spoiler alert: he would have blown all his “Summer Job Money” on her and forgotten all about college tuition! On a necklace, Bud Light for the high school party, concessions at the Friday night football game, etc.
As the title of the song suggests, this absolutely carries a summer vibe that’s reminiscent of one of Lane’s influences - Kenny Chesney. It’s a throw your arms in the air and sway along with feel-good song that is begging to be played in front of a sea of people in an atmosphere like you’d find at CMA Fest.
