Whenever a new artist breaks into the country music scene, there must be something about their music to instantly catch the listener’s ear and make them want to continue listening; whether it be a catchy melody, a great voice, or outstanding lyrics that invoke some sort of emotion.

With his new release “Wild,” a song written by Morgan Evans, Sam Ellis, and Blair Daly, Johnny Day hits all 3 of these aspects.

The driving, modern pop country tune focuses on how wild/crazy he is about his better half and uses comparative lyrics throughout the verses to perfectly describe her carefree, go with the flow attitude:

“You’re like a flower, you dance in the breeze.”

“You don’t know you’re perfect, you don’t even try.”

“you’re like the waves on the ocean blue, you go where you go, and you do what you do.”

Where the verses are lighter and more fun with his descriptions, the chorus somewhat turns up the suggestive heat between the two as he sings of her putting on her blue jeans, holding his hand, and warning him that this could take all night.

Though on the surface this may resemble songs that country music has given to us time and time again, Day does cleverly add a few unique elements that really make this stand out.

In the bridge he sings “I don’t wanna try to tame ya,” highlighting the fact that love should be about loving someone for exactly who they are.

And then in the final chorus he adds the one-time line of “just hold on for the rest of my life,” which effectively changes the entire dynamic of the song from just being flirtatious to moving forward together.

Combining all the necessary attributes together into one 3-minute package should be enough to garner Johnny Day plenty of attention for “Wild” from the media and music industry alike, while also giving him a very strong starting position for a chance to become a buzzworthy artist over his next few releases.
