Blake Shelton is at the point in his career when he can literally do no wrong.  Musically, he can write, record, or perform just about any song under the sun and it will turn gold (or platinum).  But what makes him incredibly unique is that not only is he releasing whatever he wants…but everything he releases is so damn good.

Enter “Come Back As A Country Boy” – a title that on the surface may seem a bit vanilla.  Let’s be honest, Shelton is a superstar.  Not just on the country music scene, but in all facets of the entertainment industry, he is a celebrity.  Releasing a song like “Come Back As A Country Boy” shouldn’t work for him at this point in his professional career…but it does.  And it’s one of his best songs in a while.

It’s reincarnation with a country western vibe, all about how he wants to come back as a country boy as that’s all he’s ever been.  Written by Jordan Schmidt, Josh Thompson, and Michael Hardy, the song is perfectly infused and delivered by Shelton, who, despite all of his accolades and time in the spotlight, is and has always been a country boy at heart.  And, which has been the case since the very beginning of decorated musical career, when Blake sings it, you believe it.

“So when I die I wanna come back as a country boy

No, there ain’t no better life if you ask me

If my neck don’t come out red, then Lord, just keep me dead

‘Cause a country boy’s all that I know how to be”

“Come Back As a Country Boy” follows his recent hit singles “Minimum Wage” and “Happy Anywhere” (with Gwen Stefani), and will be included on the upcoming release of his deluxe edition of ‘Body Language’ on December 3.
