Over the years, Chris Janson has made a name for himself as a wildly entertaining performer, notably referred to as a “must-see” live act.  His songs are upbeat, witty, and often times hilarious, while his vocal range and power have stood up to his “human hummingbird” notoriety.

But just as redeemable, and even more impressive, has been his ability to slow it down and offer incredibly sentimental songs touching on some of the more heartwarming subjects.

“Bye Mom” is a song that will make every mother shed a tear, and will probably do the same for her sons and daughters.  It tells the story of unconditional love between a mother and her children, inspired by real-life loss.  Janson’s co-writer on the track, Brandon Kinney, lost his mother earlier in the year and the lyrics of this track serve as a tribute to her.

“I know it’s just the way it is

When you think you grown but you’re still a kid

And you don’t know you’re somebody

That somebody loves more than themselves

And there’s a beauty in the innocence

Of not knowing that the time they’ve spent

Is more than one could ask for

And that’s a special kind of love

And it’s only there for a lifetime, then it’s gone”

It’s an incredibly emotional song, telling the story of unconditional love and how no matter how long we have our mothers in our lives, it will never be long enough.  It’s a love that everyone deserves to feel, Janson opines, while offering memories from childhood through adulthood.

It seems like Janson is always on the road, and that will continue to be the case through the end of the year, as he has dates scheduled across the country via headlining performances, fairs, festivals, and special events through mid-December.
